Dualities-Lessons from the Life of Bilal (RAW) [Due on November 16, 2008]

Remember to make connections with our class discussions:
1. What does being a slave to Allah mean to you and what does freedom from Allah mean to you?
2. Analyze the life of Bilal (RA) and list the reasons why Mohammed (SAW) did not follow the suggestions of ringing the bell or other suggestions and instead followed what Abdullah ibn Zayd and Umar dreamed of. How does this event relate to fit-in and not fitting in?
3.How do you explain freedom in the light of Tawheed?

1.Being a slave to Allah means to follow Allah's command and desires.Freedom from Allah means to me is having free will, we can do whatever we want. We have to choose right from wrong. 2.Bilal was a good man, he followed Islam and always did what was right. Mohammed (SAW) did not follow those ideas because he said Muslims were special. They didn't follow the Jews bell or anything, Muslims were whole. He followed Abdullah ibn Zayd and Umar's dream because he believed that Allah was sending him a sign to do that. 3. Freedom in the light of Tawheed is following what Allah (SWT) is telling us to do, but we have to choose if we do it or not. It is are choice if we try to go to Jennah or if we don't try to go to Jennah.

To, me, being a slave to Allah is a good type of slavery. This is because Allah is the all-powerful and the king of all of the leaders in the world and he is also the owner of all the valuable things in the whole universe. Being a slave to Allah means making choices according to Allah`s commands and also believing in Allah and submitting to Him.I would want to be a slave to someone who is the owner and king of the whole world.Freedom to Allah is not following Him and His commands. Also, it means that you make choices in your life according to your desires. Another thing is that freedom from Allah is that we will not have a pure, correct lifestyle and we will not know which lifestyle is the correct one to live by and you have the choice to honor or humiliate yourself. Bilal (RA) led a very good and pure life. The prophet even said that he could hear his footsteps in Jannah which shows how good and pure he was. Also, at first he was a slave to a human being who beat him and had full control over. But, when Bilal(RA) got free from his human owner, he accepted Islam and became a slave of Allah and when he did this, he became honored and was the first muazzin and one of the prophets close companions also. This is a lesson to us that being a slave to Allah is nothing like being a slave to a human being or even an item because Allah allows us to make our own choices. Human masters rule their slaves lives completely and also any item for example a gameboy will cause you to play on it nonstop, and we will not be honored in the eyes of Allah. In the light of Tawheed, freedom is making your own choices, and since you have the choice to honor or humiliate yourself, you can choose to have Tawheed al-Uloohiyah by doing good and pure actions, you can have Tawheed al-Asma was sifaat by believing in Allah`s names and attributes.Lastly,we can have Tawheed al-Ruboobiyah by believing in Allah and his actions. This is what I think are the main things that connect to Islam and Blial`s life.

Yes I agree with both of you, that following Allah's commands frees us from being slave to anyone else or even our own desires.
For Tawheed, I want you to think about how every thing we have comes from Allah by His Will; therefore, we don't have to bow down to other human beings expecting any favors from them.

1. being a slave to Allah means to follow Quran and Sunnah and do what the prophet and sahaba did. Being free from Allah means we are free to chose to follow him or not and to do whatever we want but expected to do the right. 2.Bilal was a vary strong beliver he he loved the prophet and helped him do many things. I agree with Abedullah but i think that it was Umar who had the dream. And it rilates to fitting in and not beacouse the muslims are unique they wanted to fit in and be like everyone else when they where not. 3. And freedom in the light of tawheed i think means to do all the things Allah likes and hate all the things Allah hates.

I think being a slave to Allah(SWT)is a a good thing. i think that because unlike human slave owners Allah(SWT)gives us a choice. when it it is time to pray Allah(SWT)gives us a choice to either to pray or continue whatever we were doing. he lets us choose from right or wrong, and follow Allah or shaytan. bilal(RAW) was a very good follower of islam.the problem was that his owner, Ummayah always tortured him, and Allah(SWT)had said that you need to treat your slave like you treat your family. when Ummayah had found out that his slave had become muslim he put him in the desert in a tin suit. every time Bilal(RAW) was burned he had always said Allah is one...Allah is one.One day the Prophet asked Bilal what should we do to call people for prayer? the sahaba of the prophet thought that they can use the horn, but the prophet said that the Jews used that. that is why the prophet didn't want to use those suggestions. he didn't want to use the other religeons way of calling for prayer. that night Abdullah Ibn Zayd had a dream of the Athaan. he told the Prophet and the Prophet asked Bilal(RAW)to say it. he had said the most beautiful AAthaan.

1.Being a slave to Allah means to worship, obey, and follow him.We are under his power and we only do things for Allah and cannot be a slave for anyone or thing else.Having freedom from Allah means to be able to make choices ourselves, and to do anything we want as long as it is islamically halal.

2.Bilal was a great muslim slave under ibn Umaiyyah, who didn't accept Islam. He torchered Bilal in several painful ways, but Bilal just said "Allah is one".After Abu Bakr bought him,Bilal became the first to call the adhan.Muhammed (saw) didn't follow the suggestions of the bell, horn, and fire because they belonged to the other religions.Prophet Muhammed (saw) wanted to be unique and wanted Islam to have it's own way to call people to prayer. This has to do with fitting in and not fitting in because the prophet made Islam unique and not fitting in with other religions.Islam has it's own way of everything and stands out.

3.Freedom in the light of Tawheed is to have options to choose whether it is right or wrong to do something. In the end,we would have chosen if we go to Jennah,or not.

1.Being a slave to Allah means to me that i can not do shirk or bad things. Being free from Allah means to me that we have free will but we shoudnt be to free.

2.Bilal(RA) was a slave to ummayah and when he exeoted islam he was totured but he didnt give up islam. The prophet did not follow the bell or the drum because two campanions had a dream. This fits-in because if no one saw that
dream we woudnt say the adhan.

3.Freedom in the light of tawheed is that we have permision to do good or bad.

Being a slave to Allah(swt)means freedom. We would be free to to anything that is right. WE would be the slave to the highest of all,the king of kings. It means that i am a lucky person it is a blessing to be the slave of the king of kings. That is what freedom is o me from Allah(swt). The life of Bilal is a very struggled life. Bilal was a slave of ummaih. When Bilal was a Muslim he was made to wear armor and was to lay in the hot dessert. When he was freed by Abu bakr (Raw). The prophet did not except the bell or the fire etc. because he said they were unique they were different from the rest of the religions. So that is why he took Abdullah ibn Zayd and Omar dreamed of. Freedom in the light of Tawheed is something that we are blessed with and that is because we do not have to bow to others and ask them for freedom.

1.To me being a slave to Allah is following all his commands nad never to question or disobey him.For me being a slave to Allah is different than being a slave of someone else because as a slave of someone else you usually are treated cruely and are notloved. But being a slave of Allah who is the owner of all the slave owners and every body else you are not being treated unfairly and allah loves you and forgives you when you make even a big mistake butask for forgiveness.Other masters would torture the slave for making only a simple mistake.Freedom from Allah to me is to be able to have no worries about rules unless they break a rule in Islam. But in Islam we already have a lot of freedom we just need to follow Allahs rules which are not to hard and to pray 5 times a day which only takes a few minutes each.
2.Bilal aws an extrordinary man who had an unbreakable faith.he was a slave to Umayyah who was a bitter man. When Bilal had discovered Islam he had loved it.Unfortunately Umayyah had not approved of his discovery and was tortured until he would give up.But even through all the suffering such as when they dressed him in armor and laid him out in the dessert during the hottest part of the day Bilal still had stayed on the path of Islam.Later he was sold to Abu Bakr who had set him free.Prophet Mohhamed(pbuh)had rejected all the suggestion because he said this is for the Jews or whatever religon the got the idea from.He wanted a unique way of gathering the muslim for prayer. When Abdullah Ibn Zayd and Umar had a dream about the Ethan he had loved it and asked Bilal to call it since he had the best voice. The Ethan had had talked about calling muslims for prayer.
3.In the light of tawheed we have the oppurtunity to do good or bad.We also have the power to humiliate our selves by doing bad things or not following Allahs command. But when we follows Allahs command we will have the power to honor our self.An example of being humiliated is if you lie about something to your teacher and then she finds out you are humiliated.

Being a slave to Allah (SWA) is a special kind of slavery and does what he commanded us to do. To worship and follow the way the prophet (SAW) went and not the one were shaitan is. To be free but not to be free from the rules of Allah (saw). We have to follow every thing step by step that Mohammad (SAW) did. When Bilal was in slavery he didn’t want to be a slave but instead he wanted to be a Muslim. Freedom is when you are a person who doesn't belong to anyone.

1.Being a slave to Allah swt means to obey and follow allah swt's orders. It also means to me that if your a slave to him it is really a once and a lifetime oppurtunity and we should all take it. I would love to be a slave to him he is the owner of all things and he is the owner of the whole universe. When you are a slave to Allah he give you a choice for example he gives you a choice if you want to pray or if you get too distracted and get carried away with t.v, videogames , and money. Remember the story we read about how muhammed learns a lesson that story talks about how muhammed gets distacted when it comes to prayer and school. This story is a big lesson for us and we should all follow it. Freedom from Allah means to me that he is giving us choices that we can either follow or ignore. He is givig us these choices so he can actually help us live a better life. In the story of bilal [ra] he did not have a free life and he got humiliated by being put out in the blazing sun wearing a armor. He got humiliated but, with the work of his beleifs in islam he got rewarded after the hardships of his humiliation.

2.The life of bilal [ra] was hard for him but he followed the right path and kept his priortys straight. He followed islam the right way and he always did what was Islamic.Muhammed [saw] did not like the ideas of the woodden clapper and the bell because he knew that muslims had their own way and that we can have something more strong and more islamics. He followed Abdullah ibn Zayd and omars dream because he knew that allah [swt] was sending a message to them and so bilal could say the athan. They said it was the most beutiful aathan they ever heard and they really liked it.

3. I can explain freedom in the light of tawheed by telling you that your freedom all depend on how strong you iman is. freedom in the light of tawheed is being able to choose your own choices like praying our not praying. I agree with the other responces that our choice in the end is if we work for jennah or if we don'nt. It is very important not to try to fit in because allah [swt] made you the way you are and their is nothing that you can really change except your faith in islam and your beliefs.

Bieng a slave to Allah means to me that i have to worship and obey him.Having freedom from Allah meanss to me having choices. When Bilal (RA) was a disbeliever he was punished bu Umamyyah ,and a rock was put on him. When he became a muslim and had faith in Allah,Allah reworded him by making him the first person in Islamic history to say the Athan. And our prophet told him that he herd his footstreps in jannah.Muhammad (S.W.S)said to the sahhaba when they told him ideas about the other things the other religions do to call people to prayer. He said it does not fit in because he wanted one that nobody or any religion had. Then Abdullah had a dream about the athan. He told his dream to our prophet. Then Umar said he dreamed the same dream to. Someone was saying the athan. Then Muhammad s.w.s told him to teach the words to Bilal.I explain freedom in the light of tawheed as that tawheed has light so when you follow it you will get light.

1. Being a slave to Allah means to follow his commands and desires. He is also the king of kings, wich makes him the all powerful and the all knowing. Being a slave to Allah also means that we have the choice to choose whatever we want, but we should choose to follow Allah (swt) and do everything for his sake.
Freedom from Allah means that we can choose to honor or humiliate our selves’ totally agree on what Aroma said about you can choose to have Towhead al-Uloohiyah by doing good actions, and you can have Towhead al-Asma was sifaat by believing in Allah`s names and attributes, and that we can also have Towhead al-Ruboobiyah by believing in Allah and his actions.

2.Bilal's master was ibn Umayyah,Umayyah would torchers Bilal even though it was really hard for Bilal, but whenever Umayyah would ask him "who do you believe in"Bilal always said "in the one and only Allah”. The reason Muhammad (saw) didn't follow the bell or other suggestions and instead followed what Abdullah ibn Zayd and Umar dreamed of, because Prophet Muhammad (saw) wanted to be unique and wanted Islam to have it's own way to call people to prayer. This event relates to fit-in and not fitting in
Because the prophet made Islam unique and did not make it fitting in with other religions.

3. Freedom in the light of Tawheed means that we have duality by choosing between bad and good, and in other words it would mean that we chose to go to hell or paradise.

1.Being a slave to Allah means to follow his orders through the Quran, sunnah, and hadith. Being a slave to Allah will give you a higher chance to being closer to him. Freedom from Allah means to have your own choice on your descissons. It maeans you could have your own say to do whatever you want.

2.Bilal was a slave for Umayyah. Even though he was torured, he still sticked with Islam. Muhammad (saw) did not follow the idea of ringing a bell or a horn because he wanted Islam ton be it's own religoing under Allah. This was fit out becasue the prophet (saw) did not want to follow the same ideas that other religoins used. He wanted Islam to stand out.

3.Tawheed Al-Uloohiya relates to freedom in the light of Tawheed because Tawheed Al-uloohiyah is our actions. Freedom is to do whatever we want in our actions as well. It is our decission on the actions we pick so we should pick wise ones.

Being a slave to Allah is very fair in my opinion because he created me and he is my master.
Its as if I made something in art and I wanted to hang it on the wall, then it would be my choice because I made it. I would be the owner because it belongs to me. At the same time i take care of it and keep it safe. Thats the way I look at it. we also have freedom from Allah because we have our own will to choose right from wrong.
He gave us the rules in the Quran but now it is up to us to obey or go astray.
Bilal was a slave under the power of a man named Ummayah. He soon converted into a Muslim after Abu Bakr bought him. He had a such a amazing voice the prophet (pbuh) made him the first person to call the Ahdan. The prophet didn't go with the other suggestions of the bell, fire,or horn because the prophet(pbuh) wanted Islam to be fresh, new, and unique way of calling people to prayer. This relates to fitting in and not fitting in because the prophet (pbuh) preferred to be different and not worried about what others thought of him. He didnt want to be like the rest. He wanted to go his own way, Allah's way.
freedom is in the light of tawheed because Allah gave you a body and brain to chose right from wrong. Tawheed Al-Uloohiah ties into this very well because our actions will either honor or humiliate us. It's not Allah's fult it's ours if we get humiliated.

1. Being a slave to Allah means that you are commited to the highest, most powerful and absolute authority of this Universe. This means that we should follow every command Allah has given us without any hesitation.
Being a slave to Allah also means that in away we are free because Allah let us make our own choices. We have a choice to do anything as long as its halal. That is why its so important and special to be Allah's slave.
Freedom from Allah means that we are misguided and end up doing wrong things. The reason for this is because Allah wont help us with anything if we are free from him and we might also be in the danger of becoming a persons slave. In this way we will lead ourselves into an unpure and wrong life according to our own desire.

2. Bilal(RA)was one of the prophet's strongly loved companion and assistant. Although he was a slave to Ummayyah and was harshly tortured, he didn't give up his loyalty to Allah (swt) and the prophet (saw). The prophet even had a dream where he heard Bilal's (RA) footsteps in Jennah.
Muhammed(SAW) didn't follow the idea of ringing a bell or blowing a horn to call people to salah because he wanted Islam to be different and stand out as the bes religion. Another reason the propht ollowed Abdullah's dream wa because he believed it was sign from Allah (swt).
I think this event relates to fitting in and not fitting in because prophet (saw) wanted Islam to stand out and be special and different from other religions so people would know the importance, reality, specialty of Islam.
Freedom in the light of Tawheed means that when following Allah and Tawheed by singling Allah out by our actions, we are saving our selves from having to bow down to someone besides Allah.Because when we follow Allah and show it with our actions, we also show that we are free and aren't enslaved by our own desires. That is truly a blessing.

Sister Ghazala said...

Mashallah, I am impressed by your responses. Yes, being Allah's slave ties very well with Ruboobiyyah and Uloohiyah both because we single out Allah by His actions when we believe in Him as our Master and when we do everything for the sake of our Master, we single Him out within our actions, which is Uloohiyyah. By the way, Bilal accpted Islam before he was freed by AbuBakr from Umayyah Bin Khalf.

1.Being a slave to Allah means to be the slave of the king of kings. If you think you are the slave of the highest and most best thing in the world, then your wrong. Allah is on top of that most highest and most best thing. Being a slave to Allah means to follow your own choices and follow Allah's commands and decisions. Allah is on top of everything in the Universe. Allah is the King of Kings. Being a slave to Allah ties very much with Ruboobiyah and Uloohiyah because we do things for the sake of Allah. An example is if your favorite show is on and it's Salah time then you will turn or pause the T.V and go pray for Allah's sake. Freedom from Allah means to misguide ourselves. Meaning we are choosing to do the wrong things and follow the misguided path. Freedom from Allah is leaving the choice to us to choose our own decisions. We may follow the wrong path when we are free.

2. Bilal (RA) was loved dearly by everyone. Umayyah tortured Bilal so much. Whenever Umayyah asked Bilal who do you believe, Bilal did not give up and kept saying Allah, Allah is One. The prophet had a dream were he heard Bilal's footsteps in Jennah. Bilal was harshly tortured by Umayyah but, Bilal never gave up and kept saying I beleive in Allah. He had an amazing voice that the Prophet (s) made him the 1st one to call the Athan. Muhammad (s) didn't allow the horn or the bell to call the people for Salah because he wanted the religon Islam to be different than others when it came to calling people for prayer. Also because the prophet (s) wanted a way of calling people to be new, and unique. This relates to fitting and non-fitting because the prophet wanted to call people for Salah in a different way then every other Religon. The prophet wanted the way of calling the people for Salah, the athan, to be unique and new.
3. Freedom in the light of tawheed means choosing our way to do good or bad. The decision is to us if we want to do good or bad. Our actions, Tawheed Al-Uloohiyah, is what is going to be counted. We have the right do do good actions or bad actions.

1.Being a slave to Allah means to do what he says to us. Lke doing the 5 pillars of Islam. Your going on stairs to each and every command Allah gives untill he honors you.Freedom from Allah means that we chose our chosies. We choosing every thing is freedom because we wanted that to happen.
2.The story of Bilal that he was a slave. He was a muslim. Nobody made him believe in anyone but Allah. The prophet (saw) didn't want to do the bell or other suggestions because he wanted the call to prayer to be unique and to mean words of Islam so it could be meanful to everyone. This event relates to fitting in and not fitting in because the words meant something the others didn't. It was different.
3.Feedom in the light of Tawheed is all about Tawheed Al-Uloohiyah because its all about our actions that we choose.

Reem A said...

1. To me, being a slave to Allah means to carry out His orders, and follow all the rules according to Quran and Sunnah. To me, freedom from Allah means to have permission from Allah to have your own will; also, to be free to make your choices unlike the Angels of Allah. The only answer they can say is yes. But with this freedom comes responsiblity. You have to think about the consequences before you make a descion, because there is a video camera (Allah's eyes) watsching every step you take, recording everything you say, and it never runs out of battery.

2. The event relates to fitting in and not fitting because by ringing the bell or any other suggestions, they would fit in with the people. By not using the suggestions that they dreamed of, they wouldn't fit in with everyone else. But by thinking of something unique or their own thing, that makes them fit in with anything, or anyone in Allah's eyes.

3. Freedom in the light of Tawheed is trying to make the right choices by knowing right from wrong, and choosing the right thing not to show-off, but because you fear and love Allah (SWT) and you fear His power, and you know that choosing the right or fair choice is what a true Muslim should do.

Being a slave to Allah is to love and obey Allah and to cherrish his commands and his prophets (pbah). To be given freedom from Allah is to be able to do whatever we want good or bad but he gave us the choice to see if we will do right or wrong to ditermine our fate.
Bilal was an abbasynyan slave who was touched by the message of islam and became muslim. He was very close to the prophet and even made the first athan! The prophet didn't want to use the calls of other religons becuase muslims were diffrent not the same as others and they needed there own special call. I agree with what Abdullah said about listining to thier dreams and thier drems were good and led to wholeness. Freedom in the light of tawheed is to be free from anything other than Allah like not being a slave to vidio games, you can play them but not constantly.

1- Being a slave to Allah (swt) means to me that we have to worship Him and obey Him. Being a slave to him doesnt mean that we are trapped somewhere, it just means that we could remember him and worship Him, so we can be closer to Him. Only we could be a slave to Allah (swt). We cant be a slave to a video game and just forget Him. I play alot of video games, but when i hear the Athan or my mom tells me that it is prayer time, I shut the system, make Wadu and pray. Freedom for Allah (swt) means to me that He does not force us to do something, He gives us choices. If a person sits in front of the t.v, and they see a bad channel, Allah doesnt force us not to watch, he gives us choices. He gives us choices because this is a test, and all the results will come at the day of judgement.

2- Bilal was a slave for Ummayah. He was under the blazing sun when he was a slave and almost died. Nothing would stop him from worshiping Allah. He would always say "Allah is one, Allah is One, Allah is One." The Prophet came and tried to free bilal. He gave the Ummayah money, then made bilal free. After he was free, he would worship Allah more and thanking Him. One thing he woulnt like was that, when it is time to pray people would come late or early. They wouldnt know when to pray. The Prohet didnt like the idea of using the bell so people would know ehn to pray because the Jews already took it. Another reason was that they use a bell, Muslims are whole so they needed something stronger then a bell. One day, Abdullah ibn Zayd had a dream that he saw someone calling something that led all the muslims to come and pray. He told The Prophet that and, he loved the idea. The Prophet told Biala to call the Athan. He called on the highest roof so that people could hear it.It is fitting and non fitting to other religon. Islam had its own way.

1. Being a slave to Allah means to ollow Allah's commands and not disobey what he has made halal or haram. It also frees you from being a slave to another. This means that although you may be a slave Allah still comes first and his commands come first. An example would be Halo3. People love to play this game and spend all day playing it. This game begins to take over the mind of the player so that all they think about and desire is the game. You have now become a slave to the game, instead of Allah, your creator. To have freedom from Allah means that his slaves have free will. Allah holds us accountable for our actions even though he gives us free will. This does not mean that we do not have to pray or fast or any other obligations allah made fard for us.
2. Bilal was a slave and a non-muslim until Abu Bakr came and told his human owner about islam. He embraced islam and was tortured by his human owner for accepting islam. Abu Bakr then bought him from the owner and freed him from his human owner. The reason why they didnt follow the suggestions to ring the bell to call people to prayer is because it resembled the bell that christians used. Muslims wanted to be different than the disbelievers. Abdullah ibn zayd and Umar had a dream which showed the muslims a better way to bring people to prayer. This was the Athan. The Athan separated the muslims from the disbelievers. They told Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) about the dream and Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) told them to tell Bilal about the Athan. This is how Bilal was the first person to do the Athan.
3. Freedom in the light of Tawheed means that each person has a choice to do good or bad. For example, if it is time for prayer and you are playing video games, you have a choice to pray or skip it and continue playing your game.

Being a slave to Allah means to me that I am the slave to the highest. It means that we follow his command and desires. It also means that he has given me a path to follow because he has given the quran and the sunnah, but being free from Allah means that I have the chioce to get honored or humiliated also that we are following our desires and some might be wrong.
Bilal(RAW)was a slave and was tortured many times. Later he was freed and became a muslim but his master still tortured hime until he said I do not believe but someone came and bought him. Then later the people of Prophet Muhammad asked what would they use to call people to prayer. Many people gave him many suggestions but the prophet said no because his religion was different and special from other religions. Then Bilal (RAW) became the first muazzin and the prophet heard his footsteps in Jennah.Freedom in the light of tawheed depends on your Iman that is because you have the choice to humiliate or honor yourself also to do believe in Allah(ruboobiyah) and then submitt(uloohiyya).

2.Mohammed(SAW) did not follow the other suggestions because they were used for other relgions. He used Abdullah Ibn Zayd's idea because the words were really beautiful and it wasn't used by anybody else.
3.Fredom from Allah (SWT) is that you get to choose the right path or the wrong path.

1. Being a slave to Allah means to me that I have to follow all of the commands Allah told me to do and doing it no matter what type of command it is. Freedom from Allah means to me that I have a free will. I can do whatever I want.
2. Bilal was a slave to Ummaiyah who got freed and converted into a Muslim. I agree of what Abedullah K. said. The Muslims were special. To call the Athan, the Muslims were not going to copy others, such as the Jews, who use a bell. Prophet Mohammed (SAW) thought that the Muslims were special, and that Umar and Abdullah ibn Zayd dreamt of was a sign from Allah.
3. Freedom in the light of Tawheed is doing whatever we want. We can choose to follow Allah's commands, or we can just ignore it. We can chose to go to Jennah or we can choose to go to Naar.

1.Being a slave to allah (swt) means that he has power over us and we have to do everything he said we have to do.Having freedom means we can do whatever we want and we have the choice of doing whatever we want unlike other creatures in this world.

2.Bilal (ra)was a truthful, helpful man.He always did what the prophet revealed to the people. He was tortured by his owner because he followed Islam, he was the muathan for the people of the prophet.Prophet Muhammad (saw) didn`t approve the idea of a bell, horn, wooden clappers, etc. because he knew the muslims are special. That we are the highest of all religions. So we needed something very different from everyone else.He approved of what Abdullah Ibn Zaid and Omar said because he thought that Allah (swt) was giving him a sign and that Bilal would have a good purpose in his life because he has a beutiful voice.

3.I agree with abdullah that it means to follow what Allah (swt) said for us to do, but it also means that we have to do uloohiyah, and believe in ruboobiyah and asmaa was sifaat as well.

Being a slave to Allah means to submit yourself to him. Just beleaving wont cut it. It also means living your life following Allahs command.

Being free means that you belive in 1 God. Here, let me explain. You see, when you belive in more than 1 god, you will find yourself trying to please both of them.

There are Probibiley lots of reasons Mohammed dident want the clappers or the drum. It might be because the words in the dream had Islamic value. And mabe, it was because Mohammed wanted to reward Bilal for being loyel to islam.

And, freedom in the light of Tawheed is beleaveing and serving 1 God

Slavery from Allah means to me is to do the 5 pillars of Islam and to believe in the 6 pillars of imam. Freedom from Allah means to me is to have free will and being able to make good or bad choices. Mohammed (SAW) did not follow the suggestions of ringing the bell or other suggestions and instead followed what Abdullah ibn Zayd and Umar dreamed of because Islam has its own fashion and way of life. Freedom in the light of Tawheed is to believe in Allah by our actions.

To me, to be a slave of Allah means to be Allah’s creation and to obey Allah’s orders. But, this type of slavery is different than other slavery to humans. We get the choice to obey Allah’s orders and be rewarded in the Akhira, or to disobey Allah’s orders and get punished in the Akhira. Freedom of Allah is to be able to be free to choose if you want to obey Allah or not. I can relate this to our class discussion, about how Bilal (r) was a slave, and did not have a choice to obey his orders and he’d get punished. Prophet Mohammed (s) did not follow the suggestions of ringing a bell or blowing the horn ,because, the Jews and the Christians already did that. Prophet Mohammed (s) said that Muslims were individual.

1.Being a slave to Allah means to that I am a good Muslim, I have good faith and Iman, and that I make good choices according to Allah.Freedom from Allah means to me that I don't have good faith and Iman in Allah, I live my life the way I want to, and that I am forgetting my Lord and my religion.
2.The life of Bilal was sad in the beginning, happy in the middle, and sad at the end.Bilal was a slave of Ummayah who beat him because he was a Muslim. One day a man from the Prophets Sahaba bought Bilal.Bilal defeated Ummayah in a battle. Now everyone was wondering how could they call people to prayer? They came upwith many ideas such as using clappers, but the prophet said it was for the Christians, the horn was for the Jews, and the fire in the sky was for the fire worshipers.Prophet Muhammed (SAW) denied all of those suggestions, because he said that we are special.Instead they followed Abdullah ibn Zayd and Umar's dream because Prophet Muhammed said it was a sign from Allah.
3.Freedom in the light of Tawheeed means that we have to choose to do the right or the wrong,to go to Jennah or to go to Hell fire/Naar.This time you have to make the choice not your mom or your dad or your fiends!Allah is depending on you to make the right choice. If you make the wrong choice here and there it's OK,but if you make the wrong choices all the time that's bad.You would really need to improve on that side of the hand.
